For your information, it's good to be aware that the majority of the cPanel-based Hosting offerings on the contemporary web hosting market are supplied by a very insignificant business niche (when it comes to annual capital flow) named reseller hosting. Reseller website hosting is a type of a small business segment, which provides an enormous quantity of different web hosting brands, yet furnishing literally the same thing: chiefly cPanel web hosting solutions. This is bad news for everybody. Why? Owing to the fact that at least 98 percent of the web hosting offers on the entire website hosting market offer exactly the same service: cPanel. There's no variety at all. Even the cPanel Hosting price tags are identical. Very similar. Leaving for those in need of a top web hosting service practically no other web hosting platform/website hosting CP option. Thus, there is just one fact: out of more than two hundred thousand web hosting brand names worldwide, the non-cPanel based ones are less than 2 percent! Less than 2 percent, note that one...

Two hundred thousand "Hosting providers", all cPanel-based, yet distinctly dubbed

The Hosting "diversity" and the web hosting "offerings" Google reveals to us come down to merely one and the same thing: cPanel. Under hundreds of 1000's of different web hosting trademarked names. Assume you are merely a regular bloke who's not very well familiar with (as most of us) with the site making procedures and the website hosting platforms, which actually power the different domains and web pages. Are you ready to make your hosting decision? Is there any web hosting variant you can select? Of course there is, these days there are more than 200,000 web hosting suppliers in existence. Officially. Then where is the difficulty? Here's where: more than 98% of these 200k+ unique hosting brand names in the world will give you exactly the same cPanel web hosting Control Panel and platform, labeled differently, with the very same price tags! WOW! That's how large the assortment on the current website hosting marketplace is... Full stop.

The Hosting LOTTO we are all part of

Simple mathematics shows that to stumble upon a non-cPanel based web hosting firm is a colossal strike of luck. There is a less than one in 50 chance that a thing like that will happen! Less than 1 in fifty...

The positive and negative points of the cPanel-based Hosting solution

Let's not be fierce with cPanel. At least, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was trendy and probably satisfied most website hosting business prerequisites. To cut a long story short, cPanel can achieve the desired result if you have only a single domain to host. But, if you have more domains...

Problem Number 1: An idiotic domain name folder system

If you have 2 or more domain names, though, be extra careful not to remove entirely the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will dub each new hosted domain, which is not the default one: an add-on domain). The files of the add-on domain names are very easy to erase on the hosting server, because they all are situated into the root folder of the default domain name, which is the quite well known public_html folder. Each add-on domain is a folder situated inside the folder of the default domain. Like a sub-folder. Next time attempt not to remove the files of the add-on domain names, please. See for yourself how fabulous cPanel's domain folder system is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is located)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain)

Are you becoming nonplussed? We clearly are!

Weak Point Number 2: The same mail folder system

The email folder configuration on the hosting server is strictly the same as that of the domain names... Making the very same error twice?!? The sysadmin blokes strongly fortify their faith in God when handling the mail folders on the mail server, hoping not to botch things up too gravely.

Inconvenience Number Three: A total lack of domain name administration interfaces

Do we need to point out the utter lack of a modern domain name management user interface - a place where you can: register/move/renew/park or manage domain names, edit domains' Whois details, shield the Whois information, modify/set up name servers (DNS) and DNS records? cPanel does not involve such a "contemporary" GUI at all. That's a colossal drawback. An unforgettable one, we would like to add...

Inconvenience Number 4: Many login places (minimum two, maximum 3)

What about the need for an additional login to make use of the billing transaction, domain and tech support management interface? That's beside the cPanel account login credentials you've been already given by the cPanel Hosting vendor. Occasionally, based on the billing platform (particularly devised for cPanel only) the cPanel Hosting distributor is using, the earnest users can wind up with 2 additional login places (1: the invoice transaction/domain name management section; 2: the trouble ticket support GUI), winding up with an aggregate of three login locations (counting cPanel).

Inconvenience No.5: More than a hundred and twenty web hosting Control Panel areas to get to know... promptly

cPanel presents to your attention more than one hundred and twenty departments inside the website hosting Control Panel. It's an excellent idea to get familiar with each and every one of them. And you'd better become familiar with them rapidly... That's very impertinent on cPanel's side.

With all due recognition, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel Hosting companies:

As far as we know, it's not the year 2001, is it? Note that one as well...
